The Vine Wesleyan Church - Lead Pastor

[Posted 1/16/2019]

Job Title: The Vine Wesleyan Church, Depew, NY – Lead Pastor
http://vinewc.org/

The Vine Wesleyan Church is prayerfully seeking a Senior Pastor who will lead the church to even more effectively reach our community for Christ.  Our church was planted in 2005 out of Eastern Hills Wesleyan Church. In 2011, the church moved into its first permanent building in the village of Depew, a suburb of Buffalo, NY.  In the spring of 2018, our founding pastor resigned and our DS and the church have worked with New Church Specialties to supply a transitional interim pastor for this year to prepare us for this next season of ministry.  The church has two Sunday morning worship services with a combined average of 200. We are excited to see what God has in this next season.

Our Values
One of the most important qualifications for our new pastor is a passionate commitment to helping us develop a ministry grounded in and advancing these values:

God-focused:

  • Bible-based Ministry
  • Transformative Worship
  • Dependent Prayer

People-focused:

  • Lifelong Spiritual Growth
  • Loving Church Community
  • Christ-centered Outreach

Our Heart of Ministry: The Vine Wesleyan Church has had a heart for outreach as outlined below through our community activity and loving, caring attitude toward the people of Depew.  John Wesley stated: “There is no holiness except social holiness” and proclaimed a simple formula for a productive Christian life:

Do all the good you can, By all the means you can, In all the ways you can,

In all the places you can, At all the times you can, To all the people you can,

As long as ever you can.

The primary efforts have been to develop an internal and external outreach that will enrich the lives, physically and spiritually, of those who already are Christians and those who are not yet believers.

Internal Outreach: We desire to deepen the spiritual maturity of every individual, no matter what level of belief they may have. We hope to help bring people to a personal knowledge of God through the saving grace of Jesus Christ and the work of the Holy Spirit.  We want to offer opportunities for learning, serving and participating in the fellowship of the church body.

  1. Encouraging – discovering and using the gifts that have been given to everyone to honor God
  2. Empowering – allowing not only for growth spiritually but opportunities to help others grow to spiritual maturity.

These are examples of the internal programs that are offered at The Vine: Growth Groups, Discipleship, Mentoring, Worship Ministry, Men’s Ministry, Women’s Ministry, Children’s Ministry, Youth Ministry.

We have offered programs that have dealt with the practical segments of life: Marriage Ministry, Financial Peace University, Grief Groups, Overcoming Addiction Groups, Vine University Classes, Fusion Classes, Welcome lunches for new attendees

External Outreach: The second “sphere of influence” for the church is the neighborhood in which the church is located. This area can be as small as a few blocks around the church or expanded to one mile or even three miles or more around the church.  The outreach activities have varied based on the identified needs.

As a church The Vine is working in two programs:

  1. Tri-Community Food Pantry – serving those in need who have a demonstrated need for food and other health-related products on a regular basis – currently serving over 350 families per month
  2. Fall Festival – annual event that provides a place for community to gather and enjoy games, music, food, and offering spiritual encouragement

In the past The Vine has also provided opportunities for the community in the form of:

  1. Dine at the Vine – a monthly community meal at the church
  2. Easter Egg hunt
  3. Fourth of July Service and Parade participation
  4. Memorial Day Service
  5. Thanksgiving support for the Food Pantry
  6. Christmas presentation
  7. Food Pantry Christmas Party

Demographics – Depew, Lancaster-Village, Lancaster-Town, South Cheektowaga:
A high percentage of housing is non-owner-occupied, with many multi-family units falling into disrepair or being abandoned. Limited opportunities for local employment for skilled and unskilled workers, lack of adequate public transportation, inadequate affordable housing and a high percentage of single parent families and Seniors dependent on Social Security have resulted in a myriad of socio-economic challenges.

Depew Statistics…

Residents below poverty level. 11.2%
Residents with incomes less than $10,000. 6%
Residents with incomes less than $20,000. 22%
Single Parent Female households. 24.7%
Residents that are Seniors. 18%
Depew School students eligible for free or reduced lunches. 40.8%

There are also some affluent areas within 5 miles of our location.  These areas would include North and South Lancaster. The needs of these individuals are more spiritual as opposed to material.

This is a diverse area with plenty of opportunity to share the grace and healing of Jesus.

Our Ministry Heartbeat is to…  Pray:
We aspire to be a praying church that has a deep dependence on God to provide the wisdom, resources and power to make the impact He desires.

Hess Road Wesleyan Church - Lead Pastor

[Posted 1/16/2019]

Job Title: Hess Road Wesleyan Church – Lead Pastor
https://www.hrwchurch.org/

Hess Road Wesleyan Church is prayerfully seeking a Senior Pastor who is led by God’s Spirit to lead the people of this church and community into a more mature walk with Christ.  The church is currently undergoing a healthy transition, anticipating the retirement of their current pastor, and has a long history in the Wesleyan denomination, dating back to 1884.

The church is located in the rural hamlet of Appleton, New York, serving also the communities of Newfane and Barker.  Our community is mostly comprised of farmland and residential homes, with a few local businesses, and feels like that of a quiet small town, with generational bonds and strong family ties.  The nearest city is Niagara Falls. It is a just a quick thirty-minute drive down the scenic Route 104.

At our church, we have a healthy mix of generations and ages, and offer two Sunday services; a Heritage worship service at 8:45 with roughly 70 attendees, and a Celebration worship service at 11:00 with roughly 120 attendees.  There are various ministry programs that run throughout the week, including prayer meetings, soup fellowships, Adult Bible Study, Guitar Lessons, and Family Night with an AWANA Program. Our AWANA program ministers over 100 children and about 25 teens weekly.  We prayerfully believe that our pastor will be able to continue with our ever-growing AWANA program and to use this resource as a tool to reach others and bring them into our family. More information can be found at www.hrwchurch.org.

We also believe that our pastor will:

  • Be firm in his/her beliefs and in the infallibility of Scripture, as well as the teachings of the Bible and how they relate to the lives of those in the congregation and beyond.
  • Be mission minded with an emphasis on serving our neighborhood, our community and beyond, and to lead us into further growth within the community.
  • Be able to equip mature Christians within the church to begin mentoring those who are early in their walk, and to teach us what we need to do to become disciples, so we may go out and do His work in today’s society.
  • Be a leader; one who can communicate with all ages, a diversity of personalities, and loves to connect with church members, regular attendees, and Church guests.
  • Be EXCITED about Jesus!

Applicants should have a college degree, and either be ordained in The Wesleyan Church or be willing to transfer your ordination to The Wesleyan Church.  We would prefer a pastor who has experience in a multi-staff setting. The church provides a competitive full-time salary package with health benefits and a 2,500 sq.ft. parsonage built in 2003.

Hess Road Wesleyan Church is part of the Western New York District of The Wesleyan Church.

If you feel that God is calling you to lead our church, please contact District Superintendent, Dr. Joseph Jennings at office@wnydistrict.com.
